TEHRAN The ancient Hegmataneh hill with its unique architecture and historical background is one of the world's most splendid hills of the world. Yet nothing is known about the constructors of the hill.
According to the Cultural Heritage Organization, in the last 11 excavations and studies on the hill, it has been proved that the Medes, Achaemenids, Seleucids, Parthia, Sassanids and Islamic rulers all dominated the hill.
However, no exact document is available to determine the constructors of the hill.
The ancient place with its geometric architecture is surrounded by a 12-meter-long wall.
According to Mohammad Rahim-Sarraf, head of the archaeological team dispatched to the site, the hill's northern part is its most strategic point. It is located in western Iranian Province of Hamedan.
Meanwhile, another archaeological delegation to central Province of Yazd, elaborating on its research in the ancient Gharbal-Biz region in the province, said the team is studying the region's architecture and its historical backgrounds.
Ms. Esfandiari said, some religious architecture are observed in the region which are affiliated to Arsacide era.
